Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses Launched by Mark Zuckerberg for $799
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday introduced the $799 Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, the company’s first consumer-ready smart glasses featuring a built-in digital display. These glasses integrate a Meta Neural Band wristband, enabling users to control the device with hand gestures.
Bridge Between Audio-Only Glasses and Orion AR Technology
The new glasses bridge the gap between Meta’s audio-only Ray-Ban smart glasses and the experimental Orion AR glasses, which overlay 3D visuals in the real world but are not yet consumer-ready. The Ray-Ban Display glasses allow users to watch videos, read and respond to messages, all without obstructing the view. The display automatically disappears when not in use.
Combining Classic Ray-Ban Style with Advanced AI
“These glasses combine the iconic and timeless style that Ray-Ban is known for with cutting-edge technology,” Zuckerberg explained. “They are the first AI-enabled smart glasses featuring a high-resolution digital display that delivers clear visuals without obstructing your view. Along with this, the fully integrated Meta Neural Band wristband allows users to control the device using simple hand gestures, bringing an unprecedented level of interaction and convenience to wearable technology. These glasses mark a significant step forward in blending fashion, functionality, and advanced AI capabilities for everyday use.”
U.S. Launch Date and Availability
The smart glasses are set to launch in the United States on September 30, 2025.
Oakley Meta Vanguard: Smart Glasses for High-Intensity Sports
During the Meta Connect event, Zuckerberg also highlighted the Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses, designed for high-intensity sports like snowboarding and mountain biking. Priced at $499, these glasses feature a sporty wraparound design, enhanced audio, 3K video capture, and compatibility with Garmin fitness devices. Preorders have already begun.
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2): Upgraded Battery and Camera
In addition, Meta launched the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) smart glasses at $379, offering double the battery life and a more powerful camera capable of recording 3K Ultra HD video.
Horizon TV: Meta’s New VR Entertainment Platform
Zuckerberg also unveiled Horizon TV, Meta’s latest immersive entertainment platform designed for Quest VR headset users. This new service allows viewers to watch a wide range of content, including popular TV shows, live sports events, and blockbuster movies, all within a virtual reality environment. Meta has partnered with major entertainment giants like Disney and Universal Pictures to bring exclusive and high-quality content to the platform. Horizon TV aims to redefine the home entertainment experience, offering users the ability to enjoy media in a more interactive and immersive way than traditional screens.
